I join the overwhelming majority of Americans to demand an amendment to the United States Constitution to end the domination of big money in politics and give voice to all Americans.

I will stand with all Americans, without regard to party or other differences, and urge all candidates and elected officials to do the same, in order to pass and ratify such a constitutional amendment as soon as possible.

Power Up for the National Citizen Leadership Conference

Power Up for the National Citizen Leadership Conference

May 30, 2018
Published By American Promise

Join hundreds of citizen leaders at NCLC this June to learn how you can become part of the nationwide effort to get money out of politics and work together toward the 28th amendment.

WHAT IS NCLC?

Citizens across America are fed up with the undue influence of big money on our political system—a recent study found that 75% of Americans support a Constitutional amendment to get money out of politics. We want our government to be run by people, not money. But taking on big money feels daunting—it can’t be done by anyone alone. That’s where the National Citizen Leadership Conference (NCLC) comes in.

From June 22 to 25, the NCLC will connect hundreds of citizen leaders from across the country in the fight against big money in politics at the Washington Hilton in Washington D.C.

The conference programs will bring together political leaders (including current and past congresspeople from both sides of the aisle), journalists, activists and citizens to discuss and workshop collaborative strategies on tangible ways concerned Americans can get involved in the pursuit of a 28th amendment to get money out of politics.

On June 25, NCLC attendants will have the opportunity to apply what they learned in our follow-up Lobby Day. Participants will join groups and head to Capitol Hill to speak with their members of Congress and advocate for the 28th amendment. NCLC attendance isn’t a requirement for attending Lobby Day, so anyone interested is encouraged to join.

POWER UP. TOGETHER.

The corrosive influence of money in politics incentivizes our politicians to pander to the interests of wealthy campaign donors instead of representing the best interests of all American citizens. That must change.

Getting money out of politics takes teamwork. We need you to attend the NCLC—in person or in spirit (if you can’t attend, contribute, follow and share on social media, or watch our Facebook Live events)—and help us reclaim democracy for all citizens. Working with other citizen leaders and getting real-world advice from engaged and experienced speakers will inspire and empower us all to take meaningful action.

Attendants will have the opportunity to meet leaders in the fight against big money and members of the American Promise team, including President Jeff Clements and Director of Political Strategy Ben Gubits, who will give presentations throughout the course of the conference.

Together, we can make our government work for all of us, regardless of wealth or income. We can reclaim the American Promise of human liberty, equal citizenship, and government by the people.

You can make a difference. Join us as we power up. Together.
