SUMMARY:Constitution Day Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:On September 17\, 1787\, the founders signed a Constitution built on a radical idea: that the people\, not the powerful\, would govern this nation. Two hundred and thirty-eight years later\, that promise is under threat. Unlimited\, anonymous money has flooded our elections\, drowning out the voices of ordinary Americans and handing influence to the wealthy few.  \nThis Constitution Day\, we have a chance to fight back. The For Our Freedom Amendment would restore to Congress and the states the authority to set commonsense limits on election spending\, returning the Constitution to its original purpose. The founders gave us a republic. It’s up to us to keep it. \nWhat to expect: \n\nConstitution Day theme overview: Key messages\, talking points\, and how to connect the amendment to Constitution Day in your letter\nWriting training: Step-by-step guidance on crafting and publishing a compelling letter to the editor\nOpen Q&A and troubleshooting: Bring your questions — whether you’re just getting started or working through challenges getting your letter published\n\nThis workshop-style call is designed to help you write and publish a powerful letter to the editor in support of the For Our Freedom Amendment\, with a theme connected to Constitution Day.  \nWhether you’re a seasoned writer or just getting started\, we’ll provide step-by-step training and ready-to-use templates to help you write with confidence and impact. You’ll leave with everything you need to take action immediately and be part of a growing national movement. \nDon’t miss your chance to help shape this milestone moment. Join us and help restore the promise of a government of\, by\, and for the people.

SUMMARY:National Training - Learn how to write a Letter to the Editor!
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, July 29th at 7 PM ET for a Letter to the Editor training! \nLetters to the Editor are frequently one of the most widely read sections of a newspaper. This is a great opportunity to use your voice to educate and engage voters in your area. \nThis event is available to all American Promise volunteers. We will provide an in-depth training and there will be workshop time during the call to start your letter. \nDuring the call\, we will look at an example from Maine to show how you can respond to current events with a letter. In 2023\, Maine became the 23rd state to call for the For Our Freedom Amendment by passing a referendum with a historic 86% support! The referendum charges the Maine Ethics Commission with issuing a report annually on progress made advancing the amendment. The report is expected to be issued by July 25th and we will use this example to show you how to respond to recent events in your state. \nPlease sign up to join the call. We look forward to seeing you there!

SUMMARY:It's Time to Address Financial Election Integrity in Wisconsin
DESCRIPTION:A LeaderEthics Event Featuring American Promise CEO Jeff Clements:\nThe increase in campaign spending has been growing dramatically in recent years. The April 1\, 2025 WI State Supreme Court election was by far the most expensive state judicial election in the nation’s history…nearly $100 million. Most of the funds came from wealthy out-of-state donors. The increased spending is leading to increased public concern at the state and national level. In 2025\, Utah passed a support resolution for the For Our Freedom constitutional amendment. Similar resolutions have been introduced in Texas and Minnesota. Last year\, the Wisconsin legislature came close to approving the campaign finance resolution\, and there is solid bipartisan support for this legislation in 2025. Don’t miss this timely and important effort to break the cycle of big-money influence in elections. \nJeff Clements serves as CEO of American Promise. He has practiced law for three decades in public service and private practice\, and is the author of numerous articles and a book on the constitutional solution to the crisis of money in American politics. He is the preeminent spokesperson for the fast-growing nonpartisan movement to amend the U.S. Constitution to enable Americans to end the crisis of money in politics\, and secure free speech\, representation and effective goverment. \nJudy Nagel formerly served as a Financial Advisor at Wells Fargo. She serves on the Wisconsin statewide committee for American Promise\, focusing on campaign finance reform. She is active with the Green Bay Rotary Club\, Vision Greater Green Bay and other statewide organizations \nSam Scinta will lead the moderated conversation. Sam teaches Rebuilding American Civics (a partner with LeaderEthics) through Viterbo University. \nWhen: 12pm on Wednesday\, May 7\, 2025\nWhere: Maplewood Room\, Black River Beach Center\, 1433 Rose Street\, La Crosse\, WI \nAdmission is free. Click here to register.
