Advisory Council

I join the overwhelming majority of Americans to demand an amendment to the United States Constitution to end the domination of big money in politics and give voice to all Americans.

I will stand with all Americans, without regard to party or other differences, and urge all candidates and elected officials to do the same, in order to pass and ratify such a constitutional amendment as soon as possible.

Bill works for Chairwoman Elise Stefanik and the entire Republican Conference in the U.S. House of Representatives. In this strategic role, he leads the Republican Conference's coalition-building and outreach efforts.

It is time to accept the historical gravity of our situation. It is time for Americans of all political viewpoints to come together to win the 28th Amendment — and to renew U.S. democracy again.

We have come to expect business and wealthy individuals to fund our political system. Do we really want the strategic direction of our society, what we prioritize and what programs we kill, what we tax and what we incentivize, to be determined by so few, and not by We, the People?

We need to repair the Constitutional foundation for election spending reform so that all Americans may participate in self-government as equal citizens. I hope all Americans can come together with American Promise to help in this urgent, cross-partisan work.

Many forces are pushing against our American democracy. The forces of an untruthful media, the forces of foreign interference, and most importantly the forces of an unprecedented amount of money allowed to stream from wealthy individuals and corporate interests to affect the proceedings of our democracy. I believe strongly in American Promise’s goals to reform election spending so that the best interests of the American people are represented.

I am proud to add my voice to those who are calling for a constitutional amendment by July 4, 2026 (the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence), and have joined the cross-partisan American Promise movement to enable all Americans to take effective action-together-to move the constitutional amendment process forward.

People across the nation, regardless of their political affiliation, are making clear that corporations or unions should not be able to spend internal funds to influence elections. I urge you to support the call for a 28th Amendment to the Constitution that restores that fundamental promise of our Republic: government of, by, and for the people.

Most people agree that the influence of money in elections is a problem. Jeff and the team at American Promise looked at the data and came up with a plan to actually solve that problem. A constitutional amendment is a huge endeavor, but their plan is a realistic and historically grounded approach that can work. I’m excited to be a part of making it happen.
