Matt Howerton is a native Texan and political communications professional who is driven by his passion to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution. An award-winning campaign staffer turned political consultant, Matt’s electoral assists include successful campaigns for governor, Congress, state Senate, state House, city council, and school board. Having served on dozens of campaigns and as a staffer for the 115th Congress, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to American Promise in the role of political manager.

In 2025, Matt helped lead American Promise’s first legislative campaign in Texas. In this effort, he helped recruit the support of six Republican lawmakers who signed on as co-authors of legislation that would help empower the states to ban foreign money in U.S. elections. If you ask him, it’s all about restoring the constitution and letting Texans run Texas.
