The increase in campaign spending has been growing dramatically in recent years. The April 1, 2025 WI State Supreme Court election was by far the most expensive state judicial election in the nation’s history…nearly $100 million. Most of the funds came from wealthy out-of-state donors. The increased spending is leading to increased public concern at the state and national level. In 2025, Utah passed a support resolution for the For Our Freedom constitutional amendment. Similar resolutions have been introduced in Texas and Minnesota. Last year, the Wisconsin legislature came close to approving the campaign finance resolution, and there is solid bipartisan support for this legislation in 2025. Don’t miss this timely and important effort to break the cycle of big-money influence in elections.
