I join the overwhelming majority of Americans to demand an amendment to the United States Constitution to end the domination of big money in politics and give voice to all Americans.

I will stand with all Americans, without regard to party or other differences, and urge all candidates and elected officials to do the same, in order to pass and ratify such a constitutional amendment as soon as possible.

Position Overview

Most Americans identify the #1 threat to the promise of American self-government to be the influence of money in politics. American Promise is leading the national effort to address this threat via an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to restore power to the states and Congress, as they each may see fit, to set reasonable limits on campaign money. Ratifying this amendment requires supermajority support from the American people and their elected representatives in both the states and Congress. We work in red and purple states to pass legislative resolutions that call on Congress to propose an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would restore the power of states to decide whether and how to regulate campaign finance.

Such resolutions are currently being considered in 9 states, with plans to expand further. The Director of State Campaigns manages, supports, and trains the State teams to perform all aspects of building an issue movement, including: advocacy in state legislatures, grassroots/volunteer momentum building, earned/paid media, and thought leadership on the issue. The Director of State Campaigns will have between 3-6 states in their portfolio.

Additionally, the Director of State Campaigns will be responsible for acting as campaign liaison and consultant for states where there are volunteer or coalition efforts underway, but there is not currently a State Manager or other state-based American Promise staff member to oversee the organization’s efforts.

Our current focus in red and purple states provides an excellent opportunity for an individual who is deeply committed to the principles of federalism, limited government, and the integrity of American elections to help build the organization’s profile and impact.

The Director of State Campaigns will have exceptional communication and advocacy skills, with in-depth knowledge and experience in political campaigns and/or issue advocacy. The role requires a passionate commitment to the mission, values, and objectives of American Promise.
