Buff Kavelman founded The Kavelman Group Philanthropic Advisors in 2007 to build strength and impact for donors, grantmakers, and nonprofit leaders. With over 30 years of experience as a funder, board member and nonprofit executive, Buff specializes in launching new initiatives, strengthening philanthropic strategies, and creating lasting partnerships, including with the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the State Department and three White House administrations.
TKG’s work has spanned every region of the United States and over 60 countries. Clients support many fields, including economic opportunity, public health, the arts, environmental conservation, and global understanding. They range from start-ups to small family foundations to large institutions with years of impact.
Before founding TKG Buff held senior positions at the American Academy in Rome, the Smithsonian, and Columbia University. She received an M.S. from Columbia’s Graduate School of Architecture and a B.A. with high distinction and honors from the University of Michigan where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
