Partnerships Manager

Position Overview

As we move towards the For Our Freedom Amendment, we will need every sector and demographic of society involved in our movement. The Partnerships Manager builds and manages our relationships with a wide range of both national and state based partners, with a particular emphasis on businesses, Chambers, & Rotary clubs. The Partnerships Manager is a highly visible role, meeting with partners, connecting them to resources, and ultimately empowers partners, their members, and employees to advocate for the For Our Freedom Amendment. 

The Partnerships Manager also ensures that speakers for American Promise are adequately trained to present on our behalf, with the help of a volunteer team. 

A significant portion of American Promise’s work happens through state-based teams, and the Partnerships Manager will work to deeply understand each state’s strategy and support them to connect with appropriate partners to accelerate our mission.

Key Position Responsibilities

• Grow American Promise’s business and civic group partnerships in alignment with targeted districts and states to promote and pass the For Our Freedom (FOF) Constitutional Amendment.
• Strengthen a culture of shared commitment, accountability, and dedication to cross-partisanship, economic diversity & growth, and volunteer empowerment.
• Engage and build relationships with partners and networks through in-person, virtual, phone, and email interactions, with the goal of developing and leveraging allyships for national and local communications, events, legislative meetings, and both State and National Lobby Days.
• Strategize on how to best leverage individual members’ talents, interests, and networks to advance the For Our Freedom Amendment on both state and national levels.
• Train up both staff members, volunteers, and partner organizations to present on and represent American Promise with the ultimate goal of both state and national legislative engagement and victory.
• Work with political and state teams to ensure our selected partnerships strengthen our influence with state legislators, legislative and ballot initiatives. 
• Create strong presentations and collateral for partners and have strong communication channels to share these materials.
• Collaborate with Communications staff to build awareness and feedback loops from network activity.
• Recruit, train, and build groups of  volunteers for state and federal lobby days.
• Support the Director of Partnerships & Coalitions as well as other team members to design the partnerships strategy for the organization. 

Key qualifications

The position requires a passion for business, politics, and legislative campaigns. The Partnerships Manager is highly organized, detail-oriented and adept at handling multiple projects simultaneously in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. This role works at both a national and state level. Must be trustworthy, collaborative and have a sense of humor.

• A commitment to and excitement for the American Promise mission, goal, and values, especially our cross-partisan, right to left approach. 
• Approximately 4+ years in business, lobbying or politics/elections, or ideally a mix of all.
• Experience in chambers of commerce, business roundtables, or similar business associations is a plus. 
• Able to speak clearly about the effects of political spending on our democracy and policies, especially as it relates to the growth of our economy, corporate practices and American global competitiveness. etc.
• Able to identify and create opportunities to connect networks and groups, using strong abilities to adapt framing and terminology to each group.
• Has the technical skill to both research partners ahead of time and create  audience-specific materials for them. 
• Highly skilled at presenting, facilitating, partnering with, and outreach to low, mid, and senior level business executives and thought leaders.
• Strong collaboration and handoffs, especially with our state-based teams.
• Impeccable at follow-up and writing in a way that moves contacts from being aware of us to being raving fans and partners. 
• Ability to travel for presentations, conferences, Lobby Days, etc.
• Learns proactively, receives feedback gracefully, and contributes feedback to the team.
• Thrives in and enjoys volunteer engagement.
• Well-organized.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace, Salesforce, and mid+ level skills with LinkedIn a plus.

Location: Position is remote based.  Must have the ability to travel.
