I join the overwhelming majority of Americans to demand an amendment to the United States Constitution to end the domination of big money in politics and give voice to all Americans.

I will stand with all Americans, without regard to party or other differences, and urge all candidates and elected officials to do the same, in order to pass and ratify such a constitutional amendment as soon as possible.

AP Connect – The Power of Political Social Work

June 27, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Join American Promise and other citizens helping to make our systems work better for all Americans and advance justice and equality during the next online AP Connect conversation on “The Power of Political Social Work” at 7 p.m. ET June 27. Increasingly, social workers see how the influence of money in politics is shaping and reinforcing systems that benefit wealthy donors and special interest groups; this hampers their work to address and redress inequality and injustices that affect Americans and their families across the country.

What to expect:

  • An overview of how social workers pursue systemic change to ensure human rights and social justice for all Americans.
  • Real-world examples of systemic barriers that create or enable inequality and injustices that affect the lives of Americans across the country and reduce opportunity and cohesion in our communities.
  • How the For Our Freedom Amendment would help enhance equality and justice by reducing the influence of wealthy donors and special interest groups and restoring the voice of everyday Americans.

How to get involved:

  • RSVP for the virtual event on Zoom.
  • Invite your friends to join this important conversation.
  • Take action to build our common ground and shape systems that create a better future for families and communities across the United States.

Featuring:

  • Dr. Charles E. Lewis, Director of the Congressional Research Institute for Social Work and Policy;
  • Sarah Butts, Director of Public Policy with the National Association of Social Workers;
  • Dr. Jessica Hare, Vice President of Outreach at American Promise;
  • Moderator Jeff Clements, American Promise President.

Event co-sponsors include the Congressional Research Institute for Social Work and Policy, National Association of Social Workers, National Association of Social Workers Vermont, and National Association of Social Workers New Hampshire
