After going through the most expensive election in Virginia’s history, join us for a discussion on Thursday, November 18th at 5:30 to discuss how we, as citizens of our Commonwealth, can get campaign finance reform legislation passed in our General Assembly. 90 percent of Americans, irrespective of party, feel that money is corrupting our elections. Meanwhile, Virginia has the laxest campaign finance laws in the country. Let’s raise our voices and let our state legislators know that “enough is enough”.
Organized by the VA Chapter of American Promise, VAOurWay and End Citizen’s United//Let America Vote Action Fund, the meeting will:
- Examine how money in politics affects the issues which we care about.
- Explore the role of the VA General Assembly and the process for moving legislation into law.
- Review current legislation, both nationally and in Virginia, which if passed would enhance transparency, accountability and good governance in our political system.
- Identify key entry points for action.
