I join the overwhelming majority of Americans to demand an amendment to the United States Constitution to end the domination of big money in politics and give voice to all Americans.

I will stand with all Americans, without regard to party or other differences, and urge all candidates and elected officials to do the same, in order to pass and ratify such a constitutional amendment as soon as possible.

Hedrick Smith, Talk and Discussion: Reclaim Our Democracy

April 29, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm CDT

Renowned author, former New York Times Bureau Chief and Frontline correspondent, Hedrick Smith encourages his audiences to reclaim democtratic ideals through citizen activism. Smith will provide insights and strategies for reviving a healthy democracy in our country.

The Pulitzer Prize winning reporter will speak at the Stillwater Public Library on Monday, April 29th at 6:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Smith will be presenting his views on reclaiming our democracy and the role of citizen activism in reviving a healthy America.

In a distinguished career spanning over 50 years, Smith has examined and reported on human rights, international conflicts, Washington politics, healthcare, education and the economy. He has covered six presidents, authored several best-selling books and produced dozens of probing documentaries and investigative reports. Smith understands how we got here and what measures we must take to reduce inequality, reclaim our democracy and return the power to the people.

“The only sure way to alter today’s patently unequal democracy is for average Americans to mobilize politically—to break out of their political inertia and to move forcefully back into the political arena.” says Smith in his book, Who Stole the American Dream?

Hedrick Smith’s presentation, followed by audience questions, will be held in the Margaret Rivers Room of the Stillwater Library, 224 3rd St N, Stillwater, MN 55082
