- This event has passed.
April 12, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm UTC+0
With the first Constitutional amendment in the digital age, there’s no reason why every American can’t be at the table! American Promise and the American Constitution Society are hosting interactive town hall meetings in every region of the country.
Join American Promise founder and president Jeff Clements, Demos Vice President of Policy and Legal Strategies Brenda Wright, Ohio State University Moritz College of Law Professors Peter Shane and Daniel Tokaji, Port Clinton American Promise Association member Ellen Greene Bush, representatives from American Constitution Society, and fellow concerned citizens for a town hall meeting about what the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution must do and say.
American Promise and American Constitution Society are co-hosting a series of regional town hall meetings in every region of the country as part of American Promise’s Writing the 28th Amendment project to engage as many Americans as possible in some of the most important work of our nation today: securing our Constitutional foundation for generations to come against corruption and undue influence of money over people in our politics.
You will learn about the problems and how a Constitutional amendment could solve them, and have the opportunity to participate in the deliberation and vote on solutions.
This process will inform and educate; engage law students, lawyers and laypeople alike; provide feedback for Congressional proponents of different Amendment approaches; create a deep and wide reservoir of informed citizens, legislative witnesses and local, state and federal advocates for the 28th Amendment; and build consensus for the most effective Amendment language.
The event is co-sponsored by American Promise, The American Constitution Society, Take Back Our Republic, ProgressOhio, and People For The American Way.
